WATCH: Rick Barnes consoles his team in emotional postgame locker room speech

This was not the way Tennessee’s historic basketball season was supposed to end. This edition of Tennessee basketball had its sights set on the Final Four all season but came up short in overtime against Purdue in the Sweet 16.
That result official signals the end of Admiral Schofield and Kyle Alexander’s time with the program with Grant Williams and Jordan Bone potentially leaving school early to pursue their careers in the NBA. Thursday night may have been an end of an era at Tennessee but for Rick Barnes and his players, their thoughts were consumed with disappointment following the heartbreaking end of their dream season.
In the aftermath of the loss, Barnes did his best to console his team in the locker room as you can hear several players tear up in the background.
It’s a tough scene for any Tennessee fan to watch but Barnes brings his team together as a family to end the video with a prayer. No matter how the season ended for this team, they still have each other, win or lose and nothing can break the bond they’ve created during their time on Rocky Top.
