Rick Pitino is the active head coach at St. Johns, but he hasn’t forgotten about his time in Lexington as the coach at Kentucky.

On Tuesday morning, Pitino announced on social media that he would be in Lexington for Saturday’s football game against Vanderbilt.

The football game against the Commodores got a lot bigger after Vanderbilt pulled the historic upset last weekend against Alabama. While Pitino is coming to support the football team and coach Mark Stoops, there are also rumors he will make one more appearance in Lexington over the weekend.

The Kentucky basketball team is having their Big Blue Madness on Friday, and there are rumors that Pitino may make an appearance. Pitino was the coach at Kentucky when new coach Mark Pope played there. Pope was the captain of the 1996 team that won the only national title of Pitino’s UK tenure.

It is still unknown on whether or not Pitino will be there Friday, but he has been very supportive of Pope becoming the new coach. Pitino told Pope earlier in the week that he was going to be in Lexington this upcoming weekend.

The Wildcats football game against Vanderbilt at 7:45 p.m. ET and it will be on the SEC Network.
