Rick Pitino is back! After a scandal led to his removal from Louisville following the 2016-17 season, the former Louisville and Kentucky head coach is back in college basketball.

After spending a couple of years coaching a team in Greece, Pitino is coming back to the United States for the 2020-21 season.

Per Iona Athletic Director Matt Glovaski, Pitino has been hired as the next head coach of the Gaels:

Pitino has a career record of 647-271, with 7 Final Four appearances and 2 national titles (though 1 title and 2 Final Fours have been vacated).

Iona plays in the MAAC and had made it to 4 straight NCAA Tournaments before the tourney was canceled this year.
