Rob Vaughn, the new Alabama baseball coach who was recently hired from Maryland, will have a significant salary boost from his predecessor.

Vaughn has agreed to a five-year deal that includes an annual salary of $900,000, per AL.com. That’s a notable increase from the deal signed in 2021 by Brad Bohannon, who was fired earlier this year following a gambling investigation. It paid him $475,000 in 2022 with $25,000 annual increases.

Vaughn was the 2022 and 2023 Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year as he was the Maryland coach the last 6 seasons.

He led the Terps to a 183-117 record, including an 84-54 mark in B1G play. He was part of the staff for the 3 winningest seasons in Maryland history, including the only 40-win seasons for the Terps in 2014, 2015, 2022 and 2023.

Alabama fired Bohannon in early May after a report of suspicious bets involving his team, with the school saying he violated “the standards, duties and responsibilities expected of university employees.” At the time, it was considered a stunning move, as the Crimson Tide had a 30-15 overall record and were tied for 3rd place in the SEC West.

It finished 43-21 after a loss to Wake Forest in Super Regional play following strong play down the stretch as the Crimson Tide deflected distractions from the coaching change.
