It isn’t every day that a quarterback can have 4 passing yards in a half and still be putting on a show but Robby Ashford has done just that for Auburn.

Ashford threw just one pass in the first half against UMass on Saturday, but he has made his presence felt in a big way with 3 rushing touchdowns.

The Tigers went with a 2-quarterback style in the first game, and so far, it worked. Michigan State transfer Payton Thorne was the guy throwing the ball for the Tigers, as he was 9-of-16 for 112 yards in the first half.

The ground game performance by Ashford is a very good sign as he ended the 2022 campaign with the best rushing game of his freshman campaign. He finished that game against Alabama with 17 rushes for 121 yards and 2 touchdowns.

His explosiveness running the ball is going to have him on the field throughout the game. If he continues to develop passing the ball like he is running the ball, the Tigers might just have a star quarterback for the next couple of seasons.
