Ross Bjork explains how Texas A&M will address expenses after firing Jimbo Fisher

Ross Bjork will have some work to do on the financial side after letting Jimbo Fisher go.
The program owes Fisher around $76 million after moving on from the Texas A&M head coach. Managing expenses should be a top priority for Bjork now.
Bjork insisted at Sunday’s presser that there is a plan in place within the football budget. Bjork said that the budget will allow the program to be a high level while spending less.
“We have to manage expenses,” said Bjork. “There are a lot of things within the football budget where we can still be at a high level but still be at a championship level while spending a lot less. We have a plan. We’ll adjust, and we’ll make this work.”

Ross Bjork on paying Jimbo’s buyout: “Texas A&M athletics and the 12th Man Foundation will be the sole sources of the necessary funds covering these transition costs.”
The one-time payment will come from unrestricted 12th Man contributions. Athletics will pay the rest annually.

Bjork credited the 12th Man Foundation as the best fundraising organization in college athletics. Bjork said that the foundation is structured to allow Texas A&M to be flexible with funds.
“We have the best fundraising organization college athletics in the 12th Man Foundation,” said Bjork. “There are buckets that the 12th Man Foundation houses within their structure, and those are flexible funds.”

Fisher took over for Kevin Sumlin towards the end of 2017.
Fisher had one of his best seasons at Texas A&M in 2020, when the Aggies finished the year at 9-1. His overall record at College Station was 45-25. Fisher reached a bowl game in all of his seasons there except last year.
