Roster numbers show how incredibly young South Carolina’s offense is in 2016

There’s a youth movement going on at South Carolina.
South Carolina has 42 scholarship players on offense.

According to Phil Steele, more than 80 percent of the Gamecocks’ scholarship offensive players is comprised of underclassmen. Yet South Carolina is 2-2 with an SEC win, just one victory away from matching its win total from all of last season.
This inexperienced offense is led by perhaps the youngest of the bunch — true freshman quarterback Brandon McIlwain, who snatched the starting job from senior Perry Orth just two games into the year. Coach Will Muschamp’s squad may slog through some growing pains in 2016, but it should be one of the most experienced units in the country in a few years.
South Carolina’s young offense will have its mettle tested when the Gamecocks host No. 9 Texas A&M at 4 p.m. ET Saturday.
