In the days leading up to the first-round College Football Playoff matchup between Texas A&M and Miami, Aggie offensive lineman Trey Zuhn provided bulletin board material for the Hurricanes’ defense.

Zuhn said Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr., a likely top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, would not be “a threat.” A&M, Zuhn said, would not need to worry about Bain “too much.” When he was provided an opportunity to respond, Bain simply said, “God bless those guys,” and opted instead to let his game do the bulk of the talking.

In Miami’s 10-3 win over A&M, Bain was very much a threat. A&M had to worry about him virtually the entire game. And because his team won, Bain was afforded the last laugh.

Boy, oh boy, did he take it.

“That whole o-line some b*****s,” Bain said in an Instagram Live video to another Miami player. “F*** you, Mike Elko. F*** 60, f*** everybody, f*** Texas A&M.”

The “60” Bain referred to in the video is a reference to Zuhn’s number.

Bain finished with 3 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, and 5 total tackles. His teammate, Ahkeem Mesidor, had 1.5 sacks. As a unit, Miami sacked A&M quarterback Marcel Reed 7 times. The Miami front was violent and relentless all afternoon, flustering Reed and forcing 3 turnovers.

Entering the game, A&M had allowed just 12 sacks in its 12 previous games.

Bain was one of the ACC’s best edge rushers during the regular season. He was going to be a problem for the Aggies regardless of any pregame motivation offered up. The rest of the Aggie land is probably wishing Zuhn hadn’t given some so willingly.
