Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reported Sunday that agent Trace Armstrong had discussed joining the Chicago Bears in a management role and potentially bringing Ohio State coach Ryan Day with him to coach the struggling franchise.

Armstrong played for the Bears from 1989-94 and maintains strong ties to the franchise. He is also Day’s agent.

Later on Sunday, Armstrong took to Twitter to deny the report.

“I have the utmost respect for the Chicago Bears organization, the McCaskey family and Ted Phillips,” tweeted Armstrong. “However, any assertion that I have engaged in conversations with them about joining the club in any capacity is simply not true.”

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Day has not responded to a request for a comment about the report.

The Buckeyes finished the regular season at 10-2 and will face Utah in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day.
