Ryan Tannehill reacts to Titans’ selection of Will Levis, cites ‘a little bit of deja vu’

Ryan Tannehill has been the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans for the majority of the past four seasons. However, his long-term future with the franchise has come under question in recent years.
During the 2022 NFL Draft, the Titans selected Liberty QB Malik Willis in the third round. Tennessee doubled down on QB moves again in the 2023 Draft, trading up in the second round to select Kentucky’s Will Levis.
On Wednesday, Tannehill met with the media to discuss the draft pick, among other things. Tannehill admitted Levis is “a talented guy” while hoping the Wildcat QB “adds to the (QB) room” for the Titans.
At the end of the day, Tannehill pointed to being down this road before with the Titans but knows his job is to try and win football games:
“We’ve been down this road before, so it’s definitely a little bit of deja vu,” said Tannehill. “(Head coach) Mike (Vrabel) and (GM) Ran (Carthon) make those decisions, my job is to go out and try to win football games.”
The Titans struggled a season ago while starting 3 QBs as Tannehill struggled with injuries. Tannehill went 6-6 in 12 starts while Malik Willis and Joshua Dobbs combined to go 1-4.
The situation in Tennessee shapes up well for Levis to learn early on and potentially make a push for playing time late in the year if Tannehill struggles or injuries arise. Depending on how 2023 plays out, there is a definite possibility Levis can set himself up to be the future starter looking toward 2024.
