Ryan Williams put together a spectacular freshman season last year, finishing with 48 catches for 865 yards and 8 touchdowns. After having that type of season at only 17 years old, the expectations were through the roof for him entering the 2025 campaign.
However, he hasn’t quite lived up to the lofty expectations entering in Year 2, as he has only 43 catches for 636 yards and 4 touchdowns. He had a huge game in Week 2 against Wisconsin, finished with five catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
In the team’s last 3 games, he had only 4 catches for 63 yards. In today’s college football, when a player has a tough season, the instant thought is that they are going to transfer. There has been some speculation that Williams may hit the portal, but the Crimson Tide star made it known that he will be back in Tuscaloosa in 2026.
“Of course,” Williams told reporters when asked his plans for 2026. “I’m Alabama through and through. I have no intentions of being anywhere else.”
That is a positive note for Crimson Tide fans, as the transfer portal officially opens on January 2. While Alabama fans love to hear that, their in-state rival Auburn Tigers are have bigger issues when it comes to players leaving.
Coach Alex Golesh hoped to keep many of Auburn’s top players when he left South Florida to take over the job, but things haven’t gone how he hoped. The Tigers have already lost 25 players in the portal, including superstar wide receiver Cam Coleman and freshman quarterback Deuce Knight.
For the Crimson Tide, their biggest concern right now is taking care of business against Indiana. However, the fact that Williams will be back next season is a great sign as well.
