Alabama star receiver Ryan Williams had to leave the game against Florida State midway through the fourth quarter on Saturday evening.

Williams appeared to suffer a head injury after colliding with a pair of FSU defenders. Williams dropped a pass from Ty Simpson and then was knocked to the ground, hitting his head on the turf in the process. A Florida State defensive back was initially whistled for targeting, but that call was rescinded upon replay review.

In the end, Williams was able to leave the field under his own power after receiving medical attention.

Here’s a replay of the hit:

It’s been an uncharacteristic showing from Williams. This play marked his third drop of the day as the Crimson Tide offense has struggled to get anything going against Florida State’s defense. Williams exited the field with 5 catches for 30 yards on 11 targets.

As of publication, it’s unclear if Williams will be able to return to this game or not. He exited with just over 6 minutes remaining and with Alabama trailing 31-17.
