Saivion Smith scared football fans everywhere when he had to leave Sunday’s Detroit Lions game in an ambulance after collapsing following an apparent neck injury.
After Detroit’s game against the New England Patriots, Lions coach Dan Campbell shared positive updates on Smith. Campbell relayed that Smith was doing well and is going to be fine, per the Detroit Free Press:
“Everybody was concerned about Saivion,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said after the game. “So yeah, I mean, there was a sigh of relief (when we learned he was OK).”
Campbell says CB Saivion Smith, who left the game with a neck injury, has full motor skills and they’ll try to get him on the flight home.

Smith began his college football career at LSU in 2016. After a year at Mississippi Gulf Coast, he transferred to Alabama. Following the 2018 season with the Crimson Tide, Smith declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.
Smith went undrafted and has bounced around the league. This is his second season with the Lions.
