Missouri quarterback Sam Horn will miss an extended period following a lower-leg injury sustained in the Tigers’ season opener against Central Arkansas, head coach Eli Drinkwitz confirmed Friday.
In an appearance on SEC This Morning, Drinkwitz said he had just learned the news himself and called the injury “unfortunate.”
“I love Sam Horn and I’m devastated for him, not only because of the injury but last year’s season was taken away from him because of Tommy John and now this year he’s gonna battle another injury,” Drinkwitz said. “But if there’s anybody that I know has a competitive spirit who can battle back, I know it’s Sam Horn. He’s made of the right stuff.”

Horn, who underwent an MRI Friday, remains out indefinitely pending further testing, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Clarity on the timeline for his return is expected in the coming days, but Drinkwitz described the situation as a “wait-and-see game.”
“We had an MRI this morning. … He’ll be out for an extended period of time,” Drinkwitz said.
Horn’s absence will put pressure on Pribula, who’s coming off an impressive 4-TD performance against Central Arkansas, to continue leading the offense with freshman Matt Zollers as Mizzou‘s backup.
