Sam Horn, a two-sport Mizzou athlete, will miss significant time as he recovers from surgery.

Power Mizzou was the first to report that Horn is undergoing Tommy John surgery to repair an injured UCL. Horn, a pitcher and quarterback for the Tigers, will miss the baseball and football seasons with a 12-15 month recovery time.

It’s the second time the injury bug has bitten Horn. He was limited to just 4.1 innings in 2 games of the 2023 season, his freshman year with the baseball team.

Despite his limited playing time in college, Horn has considerable MLB Draft buzz for 2025.

Horn has seen limited playing time in two seasons as a Tiger quarterback. He took a redshirt for the 2022 season. Last season, he made three appearances. Horn has football eligibility through the 2026 season.

While Tommy John surgery is disappointing news, it could work out well for Horn in the long run. Incumbent starter Brady Cook is back with the Tigers for 2024. On the diamond, Horn has time to be recovered and back on the mound to show his stuff ahead of the 2025 draft.
