Arkansas coach Sam Pittman may have a rude awakening in his first game as an SEC head coach, as the Razorbacks host Georgia in the first of a 10-game SEC schedule.

“Am I nervous? Yes,” said Pittman during his media availability on Monday.

“Why? Because they’re really good.”

Having spent the last 4 seasons on Kirby Smart’s staff as offensive line coach and assistant head coach, Pittman understands Georgia’s personnel as well as anyone in the country. The difficulty, however, is rooted in preparing for an offense led by offensive coordinator Todd Monken, and the uncertainty about which quarterback Georgia will trot out for the first series.

“What they’re going to do on offense we’re not really sure” said Pittman. “We’re just trying to prepare for everything from the Browns all the way to Southern Miss and Ole Miss,” referring to Monken’s previous coaching stops before landing in Athens.

Pittman also has no indication on who the starting quarterback will be for the Bulldogs, but knows the talent both JT Daniels and D’Wan Mathis possess.

“With JT Daniels, you go back and watch the Fresno State game from last season, he’s just throwing darts and throwing any angle. He’s a shortstop and right fielder, can do whatever he wants with the football” said Pittman.

“We know what kind of arm D’Wan has, but he can be more of a dual-threat.”

After admitting he has no idea which signal-caller will get the start for Georgia, Pittman said he believes Georgia will play both quarterbacks at some point in Saturday’s matchup.

Georgia and Arkansas kick off from Fayetteville, Arkansas at 3pm ET on SEC Network.
