Sam Pittman explains how Arkansas has addressed recent offensive woes, plan for future
Arkansas has struggled this season, and its struggles are mostly due to a lack of offense.
The Razorbacks hit rock bottom on their 6-game losing streak last week against Mississippi State when they only produced 3 points as the Bulldogs took the game 7-3.
Following the game, Arkansas fired offensive coordinator Dan Enos as the Razorbacks look to turn their season around.
On Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference, Sam Pittman addressed the recent struggles on offense and talked about his game plan heading into the matchup with Florida following the bye week this week.
“We went to our most efficient runs, what they may be, and we looked at does that fit what Florida’s doing, like you would any weekly game plan,” Pittman said. “Certainly have talked to the quarterbacks, or KJ specifically about what he feels good about running in the offense, about his throws, about his potential for runs. And then we obviously have to take in consideration our offensive line, what we can do and what we’re not doing well, and if we’re not doing it well, it doesn’t matter what you design the play with, if we can’t block it, then it’s not going to have success. We’ve obviously done a lot of soul searching inside trying to find out how we can be an efficient offense and we’ll continue to work on that as we go forward.”
Arkansas will need its offense to step up if it wants to avoid continuing a disaster of a season. Looking ahead at its schedule, the Razorbacks have Florida, Auburn, FIU and Missouri remaining. They are certainly capable of winning those games, but the offense will need to show up.
