Sam Pittman and Arkansas will square off against Bobby Petrino for a second straight season this week, this time against Texas A&M. Arkansas, of course, trailed at halftime against Missouri State last year, but eventually won 38-27.
Looking at the Aggies, Pittman said there’s plenty of Petrino’s influence as offensive coordinator, as well as Jim Chaney, a long-time former offensive coordinator now working as an analyst. And Jimbo Fisher is involved as well.
“I don’t see a whole lot of difference in this year than what they were last year,” Pittman said. “There are some differences, but they’re still a very physical running team.”
Pittman noted that Texas A&M made some line shifts, and Conner Weigman proved he can sling it after 5 touchdowns in the season opener.
“Coach Petrino is one of the best offensive minds in the game,” Pittman said. “We respect him a lot and they’re really doing a nice job … they have that same staple of physicality that they’ve had in the past.”
