Sam Pittman left absolutely no doubt about his thoughts on whether or not he’d want to play a home-and-home with Arkansas State when asked about it during SEC Media Days.

“No, no, I want to play them in Fayetteville,” the Arkansas head coach said. “That’s what I want to do. You asked me what I want. If we’re going to play Arkansas State, I want to play ’em at home.”

The 2025 season marks the first that Arkansas and Arkansas State will play each other on the gridiron, with the game set to take place at the War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock on Sept. 6. It also marks the last season of the Razorbacks’ agreement with the state of Arkansas to play at least one game annually in the state capital.

For Pittman, if the Razorbacks and Red Wolves do end up playing every year — which A-State head coach Butch Jones has championed— he’d prefer it either in Little Rock or at Razorback Stadium, with no exceptions.

“Right now, we’re in our last year at Little Rock. It would have to either be there or here. I’m not real interested in going over there and playing,” Pittman said.

Scratch Jonesboro off the future travel list for Sam Pittman, then.
