Sam Pittman didn’t have a difficult decision to make on Monday night. The Arkansas head coach pulled for Georgia, where he was an assistant for 4 seasons, over Alabama, the Razorbacks’ division rival.
Pittman appeared on Paul Finebaum’s show Friday.
“Well, I’d be lying to you if I didn’t tell you I was rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs,” Pittman said. “I had kids there that played, and I don’t think Alabama fans would take offense to that.”
“I don’t know, Coach, they’re taking offense to pretty much everything this week, so beware,” Finebaum joked about his callers, getting a laugh from the head Hog.
“I recruited a bunch of those kids and was certainly proud of the kids and proud of Kirby (Smart),” Pittman said. “I worked for Kirby and I was proud of the University of Georgia.”
Pittman was on Smart’s UGA staff from 2016-19 as an offensive line coach before taking the head coaching job at Arkansas.
Pittman returned to Athens on Oct. 2 with the Razorbacks, who fell 37-0 to the Bulldogs.
