Arkansas is coming off a huge but emotional 40-21 win against Texas on Saturday night, and following the victory, the Razorbacks jumped to No. 20 in the AP poll.

What has Arkansas coach Sam Pittman seen from his team since the milestone win over the Longhorns?

Frankly, he said, it hasn’t been good.

“First of all, we didn’t practice great yesterday,” said Pittman on Wednesday during the weekly SEC coaches teleconference. “We have to improve on that. … We’re going to work on that. We probably haven’t been in this spot for a while, but we know how to get them ready and they’ll be ready.”

With Georgia Southern on deck this Saturday, it would be easy to understand how a letdown might be in the cards for the Razorbacks.

Pittman, however, said that’s not acceptable, and that while he has some unease about recent practices, he believes his team will get things fixed sooner than later and that the process starts with him and his staff.

“It’s concerning,” Pittman explained. “I didn’t think we had the effort we had in previous practices. … It was effort. That’s coaching. That’s us and that’s them. We all have to do a better job, and I believe we will. … We will have it fixed by this afternoon, but I’m just stating the facts.”

Arkansas’ game with Georgia Southern will kick off at 4 p.m. EST on Saturday and be televised by the SEC Network.
