Sam Pittman summarizes disastrous first half: ‘We can’t stop them’

The Arkansas Razorbacks are having a rough afternoon.
Arkansas repeatedly fell on its face in the first half against Notre Dame – especially on defense. While the Razorbacks struggled to find the end zone, the Fighting Irish scored a touchdown on all 6 of their first half drives and put up an unbelievable 420 yards of total offense – the most in a single half of an SEC game since Tennessee put up 429 yards on Missouri in 2021.
Sam Pittman gave his thoughts following his team’s disaster of a start at the break.
“Well, we can’t stop them and we’re turning the football over,” Pittman said. “We’ve got to find a way to stop them… We haven’t stopped them all day. They went [45] yards in 2 plays. We’ve got to get our kids back up to get them to play hard.”
Well, I guess he’s not wrong.
Folks online are simply laying into Pittman for this start, and many are calling for his job when this one is said and done. And we can’t blame them: Pittman is 33-34 across his 6 years as Arkansas’s head coach and has one decent season to show for it, in 2021, when the Hogs went 9-4.
How bad could this get in the second half?
