Bowl season got underway today, and that led to the fall of one major NCAA record.

San Diego State RB Donnel Pumphrey became the new all-time FBS leading rusher during Saturday afternoon’s Las Vegas Bowl.

Pumphrey passed Wisconsin great Ron Dayne when he crossed the 6,397-yard career rushing mark. It’s worth noting, that Dayne’s bowl numbers are not officially counted in the record books, unlike Pumphrey’s bowl yards. Pumphrey entered the game needing 108 yards to set the record, and has logged 19 carries for 115 yards on the day. San Diego State leads Houston 27-10 at the 6:53 mark.

Georgia legend Herschel Walker is the highest-ranked SEC alumnus on the list of the FBS all-time rushing leaders, checking in at No. 11 overall with 5,259 yards accumulated from 1980-82.
