San Francisco 49ers activate former Florida DB Marcell Harris for Thursday Night Game
Rookie safety Marcell Harris might play his first snap of football since the 2016 season on Thursday night, according to The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Harris was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury on September 3, just six days before the 49ers opened the 2018 season against the Minnesota Vikings.
The former Florida Gator was taken in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by San Francisco.
The #49ers are activating S Marcell Harris (hamstring) off Injured Reserve, I’m told. The rookie sixth rounder should play today vs. the #Raiders.

Harris is no stranger to season-ending injuries, as he missed his entire senior year at Florida in 2017 after tearing his achilles. In his first three seasons in Gainesville, Harris racked up 102 total tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2 interceptions.
San Francisco needed to activate Harris by November 7 for him to be eligible this season, and officially did so on Thursday. The 49ers (1-7) have had a tough season after losing quarterback Jimmy Garappolo on a torn ACL, they host the Oakland Raiders on Thursday Night Football.
It will be interesting to see what kind of shape Harris is in after not playing in a competitive football game in two years.
