So much for the SEC being a defensive-minded conference.
According to a tweet from SEC communication director Chuck Dunlap, the league leads FBS in scoring through two weeks of play.
Not only is the SEC the only conference to top 1,000 points so far, but its quarterback play has been among the best in the country. Five SEC passers — Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, Ole Miss’ Jordan Ta’amu, Missouri’s Drew Lock, Mississippi State backup Keytaon Thompson and Georgia’s Jake Fromm — rank among the top 15 nationally in passer rating.
Those numbers might dip once teams enter the thick of league play, but through the non-conference portion of the year, the SEC has proved to be as points-happy as any other conference.
The SEC is the highest scoring league in the nation through two weeks – only FBS conference with over 1,000 points scored thus far. Five of the Top 15 rated QBs in nation are from the SEC as well.
