Scott Van Pelt has shared his pick against the spread for Saturday’s marquee matchup between Alabama and LSU.
The veteran SportsCenter host gave his pick as part of his weekly ‘Winners’ segment on ESPN. Van Pelt is going with the home dog — as he often does — in this game, picking LSU +2.5 points.
“I don’t have many rules in this segment, but I will quote myself here from a previous ‘Winners’ edition,” Van Pelt said. “‘If the sun takes its home in the western sky and it’s Saturday night in Death Valley, brother, and you give me points, I’m going to take them.'”
Van Pelt is 7-4-1 all-time when picking LSU as part of this segment, according to ESPN.
Over the last 10 seasons, LSU is 8-4-1 against the spread when getting points at home. That’s a cover rate north of 65%.
This is a crucial game for both LSU and Alabama. Both teams enter this contest with 2 losses apiece, meaning the loser would not be able to finish the regular season any better than 9-3.
Kickoff from Death Valley is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night. Here’s video from Van Pelt’s segment:
