Scott Van Pelt has made his pick against the spread for Kentucky’s SEC showdown against Ole Miss on Saturday.
Van Pelt is going with the Wildcats +17.5 on the road this weekend. Van Pelt mentioned the early kickoff in Oxford and said he expects UK to be able to keep things close.
“I’m taking Kentucky plus a big number,” he said on his weekly ‘Winners’ segment. “That’s an early kickoff in Oxford. Folks a little foggy, a little bleary-eyed in the Grove. ‘Cats to hang in there against a great Rebs offense.”
Per ESPN, Van Pelt is 8-4 all-time when picking Kentucky as part of this segment.
Despite being in the same conference, these programs have not met as often as you’d might expect over the last 30 years or so. This will be just the 10th meeting between these SEC foes since 1994. The Rebels have won all but 2 of those previous matchups, although one of their victories over UK was later vacated.
Kentucky has not won outright in Oxford since 1978. In the most recent meeting between these programs in 2022, Ole Miss won a close battle, 22-19.
Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
