Scott Van Pelt is sticking to his system when it comes to the Army-Navy game this weekend and taking the underdog. This year, SVP is riding with Army +6 over Navy.

As SVP called it, this is a general principle game, or GPG. Every year, SVP takes the underdog plus the points and rides with them for the Army-Navy game. It keeps things clean and simple for one of the greatest games of the college football season.

“We take the dog in Army-Navy pretty much every year,” Van Pelt said during Thursday night’s Winners segment on SportsCenter.

SVP is 3-4 against the spread when picking the Army-Navy game, so his system, while not complicated, has not produced the best results if you enjoy winning.

This year’s game will take place in Baltimore, Maryland, at the M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Ravens. Army and Navy have not played in Baltimore since 2016, when Army defeated Navy 21-17. There have been 4 total games played at M&T Bank Stadium between these two teams, and Navy has won 3 of them.

Navy still leads the all-time series 63-55-7, but Army has won 6 of the last 9 matchups between the teams. Navy did knock off No. 19 Army last year in an upset.

Kickoff for America’s Game between the Army Black Knights and the Navy Midshipmen is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Dec. 13. Navy is a 6-point favorite, per the latest odds from DraftKings.
