Scott Van Pelt makes weekly picks against the spread for ESPN. The veteran analyst provides his “Winners” every Friday ahead of the college football slate.
For Week 11, Van Pelt included his prediction for the Alabama-Kentucky matchup. The 8-1 Crimson Tide are heading to Lexington to take on the 6-3 Wildcats. The Wildcats have lost 3 of their last 4 while the Tide have won 7 in a row. The Tide are entering as an 11-point favorites on the road.
For this game, SVP thinks the Wildcats do enough to cover.
“Alabama off the big win at home over LSU in a noon spot in Lexington against a team who can hang around? I like UK to do just that,” Van Pelt explained. As Van Pelt mentioned, the Wildcats have kept it close or won every game except for matchups with Georgia and Missouri.
Van Pelt is 6-3 all-time when picking Kentucky.
With a win, the Tide would cement their SEC West ambitions and keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive. The Tide have owned this series historically with 38 wins compared to Kentucky’s 2. The last time the Wildcats defeated the Tide was in the 1997 season. Before that, it was all the way back in 1922 when the Wildcats were victorious in the series.
Alabama and Kentucky are slated to kick off at Noon Eastern.
