Scott Van Pelt has made his pick against the spread for LSU’s upcoming matchup against South Carolina.

LSU is favored by 7 points on Saturday in this SEC matchup. The Tigers have struggled a bit to start the year, but so have the Gamecocks. South Carolina played a close game vs. Old Dominion in Week 1 and then had a sluggish showing offensively in a big win over Kentucky last Saturday.

Van Pelt is going with the Gamecocks at home in this spot.

“Might be a monsoon in Columbia,” Van Pelt said. “But after you looked a mess in Week 1, you were more than buttoned up in Lexington last week. Give me the touchdown at home there.”

LSU fans may take some solace in this: Per ESPN, Van Pelt is just 3-11 all-time when picking South Carolina as part of his ‘Winners’ segment.

Both of these teams have yet to play their A-game yet this season on both sides of the ball. LSU’s offense and South Carolina’s defense have been strong to start the year, but the opposite has been true fore LSU’s defense and South Carolina’s offense.
