The SEC announced Thursday that it distributed over $700 million in revenue for the 2022-23 fiscal year, which wrapped up on Aug. 31, 2023.
The conference office distributed $718 million. An additional $23 million was retained by the universities that took part in the 2022-23 bowl season. It comes to an average of $51.3 million distributed to each of the 14 member schools.
“SEC member universities are proud to support thousands of student-athletes who participate in broad-based athletics programs across the league,” Sankey said. “SEC universities are committed to providing a high-level experience for all of our participants through an impactful and life-changing college experience that includes world-class support in coaching, training, academic counseling, medical care, mental health support, nutrition, life-skills development and post-eligibility healthcare coverage for student-athletes.”
With the conference expanding this summer and under a new media rights deal with ABC/ESPN, it’s safe to say the SEC is on three-comma watch. Steve Berkowitz of USA TODAY projects that for 2024-25, the conference will be distributing $1 billion to $1.1 billion in revenue, crediting expansion to 16 member schools and the 12-team College Football Playoff.
