
The SEC made a significant announcement on Tuesday night.
The league has confirmed the full list of conference opponents for all 16 of its members for the next 4 years, beginning with the 2026 season. With that, the SEC has also determined 3 annual opponents for each team in the league.
Moving forward, SEC teams will play 9 conference games. With 3 of those matchups coming against permanent opponents on an annual basis, the other 6 games will be played versus the remaining 12 teams in the league. That means every SEC program will host each team in the league at least once every 4 years.
The SEC took a number of factors into account when building out these schedules, including traditional rivalries, geography and strength-of-schedule balance.
Permanent opponents will be re-evaluated after this 4-year interval, the SEC announced earlier this month. Changes could be made based on a number of factors, including strength-of-schedule considerations.
