Mississippi State was able to do whatever it wanted on the ground against Arkansas in a 54-24 victory on Saturday, and running back Kylin Hill was one of the main reasons for that. Hill rushed for 234 yards, a career-high, and three touchdowns as the Bulldogs put up 460 yards on the ground, a school record for a conference game. For his efforts, Hill has earned the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
Derrick Brown, who made one of the highlight plays of the week when he came off the bench at the last moment and tackled an Ole Miss running back in open field, has once again earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week. The likely high draft pick tied his season-high with seven tackles and one tackle for a loss against the Rebels.
Tennessee’s Bryce Thompson was a nightmare for UAB’s quarterback in the Volunteers victory, intercepting three passes as Jeremy Pruitt’s team came away with a 30-7 victory. He was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Game, becoming the first Volunteer player to record three picks in a game since 1999.
In the rivalry game against Florida, Georgia kicker Rodrigo Blankenship contributed three field goals and an extra point as the Bulldogs stayed in the College Football Playoff race with a 24-17 win over the Gators. He was awarded the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week while his teammate, Andrew Thomas, earned Offensive Lineman of the Week after grading out at 90 percent while playing 70 snaps.
Texas A&M’s running back Isaiah Spiller tied a school record for a freshman with both 217 yards and three rushing touchdowns, helping the Aggies to a 45-14 win over UTSA. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week.
