SEC announces Players of the Week for Week 2, including John Mateer and Cashius Howell

Week 2 of the SEC season featured a number of big-time matchups and high-level performances from the league’s best players, several of whom just received Player of the Week honors.
Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer picked up the award for SEC Offensive Player of the Week after his stellar showing against the Michigan Wolverines, where he racked up 344 total yards and 3 total touchdowns while leading the Sooners to a 24-13 win.
The Co-Defensive Players of the Week were Vanderbilt Commodores‘ linebacker Nick Rinaldi, who racked up 6 tackles and a sack against the Virginia Tech Hokies, and Mississippi State Bulldogs‘ linebacker Nic Mitchell, who picked up nine total tackles in the Bulldogs’ massive win over No. 19 Arizona State.
The SEC Co-Special Teams Players of the Week were Ole Miss placekicker Lucas Carneiro and South Carolina defensive back Vicari Swain, while the Co-Offensive Linemen of the Week were Mississippi State’s Albert Reese and Missouri’s Dominick Giudice.
SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week went to Texas A&M‘s Cashius Howell, and the SEC Freshman of the Week award went to Texas wide receiver Parker Livingstone.
