SEC announces Week 11 Players of the Week

With Week 11 in the books, the SEC league office has announced its selections for the conference’s Players of the Week (offensive, defensive, special teams, freshman, offensive line and defensive line).

Here are this week’s honorees:

Co-Offensive Player of the Week – D’Andre Swift, RB, Georgia

Swift went for a career-high 186 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries (10.9 avg.) to help Georgia down #24 Auburn 27-10.
He also had a team-high four catches for 43 yards as the Bulldogs piled up more total yards (516) on the Tigers than any team had since Oklahoma in the 2016 Sugar Bowl.
Swift’s performance included a 77-yard long touchdown run in the fourth quarter; he is the first Georgia player to have two runs of 75 yards or longer in the same season since Herschel Walker in 1980.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Trayveon Williams, RB, Texas A&M

Rushed 31 times for a net of 228 for an average of 7.4 per carry with one 46-yard touchdown run.
His fourth 200-yard game effort of his career ties the Aggies’ all-time leading rusher Darren Lewis (1987-90) who also had four 200-yard rushing games in his career. In the SEC in the past 15 years, LSU’s Leonard Fournette had five 200-yard games and Alabama’s Derrick Henry had four 200-yard games.
Only Darren Lewis had two 200-yard rushing games in a single season and Williams has tied that mark. (240 vs. Northwestern State in 2018).
Williams now has 1,159 rushing yards this season, the 8th-best single season in Aggie history.
Williams now has 3,014 career rushing yards, placing him in a tie for 5th on the A&M all-time list behind Darren Lewis (5,012), Curtis Dickey (3,703), Cyrus Gray (3,298), Greg Hill (3,262) and Rodney Thomas (3,014).
This marks the sixth game of the 2018 season for Williams to bypass 100 yards.
The 31 carries is a career-high for the junior but the 228 net yards was 12 shy of his career best 240 against Northwestern State earlier this year.

Defensive Player of the Week – Darrell Taylor, LB, Tennessee

Totaled four sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and seven tackles
Led Tennessee to 24-7 upset over No. 11/12 Kentucky as Vols held the Wildcats to a season low in points and the second-lowest totals in rushing yards (77) and total yards (262).
Taylor’s four sacks are tied for the most by any player in the FBS in 2018.
He is only the third Vol ever to have four sacks in a game.
It marked the second three-sack game for Taylor this season.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Braden Mann, P/KOS, Texas A&M

Punted four times for an average of 47.8 with a long of 63 yards with two killed inside the 20-yard line with no touchbacks.
His 63-yard effort was the 13th punt of 60 yards or longer this season tying the NCAA record for 60-yard plus punts in a season by Ryan Plackemeier of Wake Forest in 2005.
Of his seven kickoffs, only one was returned for 12 yards.

Freshman Player of the Week – Daniel Parker, TE, Missouri

True freshman was a vital part of Mizzou’s 33-28 comeback win Saturday over Vanderbilt that made the Tigers bowl eligible for the second-straight season.
Caught 3 passes for 42 yards and 1 touchdown – all career highs for the converted defensive end who switched to offense just two weeks prior to the start of the season and who has seen more playing time the past few weeks (especially with the injuries to Mizzou’s top-two tight ends).
Got free for a 20-yard catch-and-run TD with 4:39 left in the 3rd quarter with MU trailing at the time, 28-19. His TD got the Tigers to within 28-26, and set the stage for the game-winning drive later in the fourth quarter.
Had the key block that sealed the edge for QB Drew Lock when he scored on a 3-yard run with 9:18 left that proved to be the winning score. Also caught a big 15-yard pass on 3rd-and-3 earlier in the possession from the MU 39-yardline which kept the drive alive.
Was asked to switch over to offense due to injuries at the tight end position, and he’s been invaluable to the Tiger offense these past two weeks with his outstanding blocking abilities in the run game.
Came into Saturday’s game with 1 reception for 3 yards, and before this year he hadn’t caught a pass in a football game since his freshman season of high school.

Offensive Line Player of the Week – Martez Ivey, OL, Florida

Ivey graded out at a team-high 91 percent and had three knockdown blocks. He was part of an offensive line that allowed the Gators to produce 367 yards of rushing offense on 62 carries and averaged 5.9 yards per rush.
Florida logged its sixth game of 200-plus rushing yards and tied the record for the most such games in a season since 2009 and for the second time since the start of the 2015 season, Florida had four-plus rushing touchdowns in a game.
The Gators also reached their highest single-season team rushing yardage total since 2004, with 2,031.

Defensive Line Player of the Week – Quinnen Williams, DL, Alabama

Williams led the Crimson Tide in production points in a 24-0 shutout win over No. 16 Mississippi State to share Alabama Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Tied for the team lead with six total tackles, including four solo stops.
Recorded a 2.0 tackles for loss (-9 yards) and one sack for a loss of five yards.
Helped limit the Bulldogs to just 44 rushing yards as the Tide has surrendered just 157 yards on the ground in the last four games.
State managed just 169 total yards while punting eight times and turning it over on downs twice.
