With another weekend of college football in the books, the SEC league office has officially named its Week 5 SEC Players of the Week:
Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia
- Chubb recorded 16 carries and 109 yards in his return to Neyland Stadium after sustaining a terrible knee injury there in 2015.
- It was Chubb’s 20th career game with 100 yards rushing.
- Helped the Bulldogs rush for 294 yards in a 41-0 shutout at Tennessee.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn
- Completed 13 of 16 passes for 264 yards and 2 TDs in win over Mississippi State.
- Completed four passes for 47 yards or longer with an average completion distance of 20.3 yards.
- Led the Tigers offense to a 49-10 victory over No. 24 MSU.
Defensive Player of the Week – Levi Wallace, DB, Alabama
- Recorded two interceptions including one returned 35 yards for his first defensive touchdown.
- Helped the Crimson Tide defense hold Ole Miss to 165 yards passing and no touchdowns in the 66-3 victory.
- Alabama held Ole Miss to 253 total yards in the second straight dominant performance for the Tide.
Special Teams Player of the Week – Josh Paschal, DE, Kentucky
- Blocked a crucial punt in the fourth quarter to setup the deciding Kentucky touchdown in the Wildcats 24-20 victory.
- The blocked punt resulted in an 18-yard loss and set up the Wildcats on Eastern Michigan’s 12-yard line.
- Recorded one sack and one QB hurry while on defense.
Co-Freshman of the Week – Malik Davis, RB, Florida
- Set a career-high with 124 yards rushing and two touchdowns in Florida’s 31-17 victory over Vanderbilt.
- First true freshman in the SEC to rush for two TDs in a game this season.
- Helped Florida rush for two TDs for first time since 2014.
Co-Freshman of the Week – Nick Coe, DL, Auburn
- Posted a career-high six tackles and added four QB pressures against No. 24 MSU.
- Recorded three tackles on third or fourth down and one QB pressure led to an interception.
Offensive Lineman of the Week – Brett Heggie, OL, Florida
- Paved the way for the Gators offense that ran for 246 yards and threw for 249 against Vanderbilt.
- Received the highest grade of any Florida OL for Saturday’s performance.
Defensive Lineman of the Week – Landis Durham, DE, Texas A&M
- Posted four tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble against South Carolina.
- Helped the A&M defense force fourth consecutive three-and-outs for the Gamecocks in the second half.
