SEC announces Week 6 Players of the Week

With another weekend of college football in the books, the SEC league office has officially named its Week 6 SEC Players of the Week:

Offensive Player of the Week – Kerryon Johnson, RB, Auburn

  • Recorded career-highs with with 28 carriers and 204 yards in the Tigers 44-23 win over Ole Miss.
  • Ran for three touchdowns to up his season total to 12.
  • Became the first SEC player in the last 20 years to record three rushing touchdowns a game in three straight games.
  • His 12 rushing touchdowns are more than nine SEC schools have as a team this season.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week – Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama

  • Played four positions in Alabama’s 27-19 victory over Texas A&M.
  • Recorded five tackles, a forced fumble, a pass breakup, and an interception in the win.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week – Devin White, LB, LSU

  • Led the Tigers with 13 tackles in the 17-16 victory over Florida.
  • Recorded a sack and a pass breakup.
  • It was White’s fourth straight game with double-digit tackles.
  • LSU held Florid to 2 of 8 in third down conversions.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Daniel Carlson, K, Auburn

  • Became the SEC’s all-time leading scorer with 413 career points following a 35-yard, fourth quarter field goal.
  • Recorded 14 points in the Tigers win and was a perfect 3 of 3 on field goal attempts.

Freshman of the Week – Lynn Bowden, WR/KR, Kentucky

  • Contributed 128 all-purpose yards in Kentucky’s win over Missouri.
  • Recorded three catches for 49 yards while working with the offense.
  • Returned three kickoffs for 79 total yards.

Offensive Lineman of the Week – Isaiah Wynn, LT, Georgia

  • Wynn recorded his eighth straight start and graded out at 92% while not allowing a hurry, sack, or QB hit.
  • Helped the Bulldogs rush for 423 yards against Vanderbilt.
  • Recorded eight knockdown blocks in the blowout win.

Defensive Lineman of the Week – D.J. Wonnum, DL, South Carolina

  • Wonnum had four solo tackles, a tackle for loss, two pass breakups, and a QB hurry against Arkansas.
  • Helped the Gamecocks defense limit Arkansas to 106 rushing yards and 3.3 YPC.
  • South Carolina’s defense recorded four turnovers with three being returned for touchdowns.
