Kyle Trask continues to strengthen his case as a Heisman Trophy contender. And over the weekend, he had one of his most impressive performances yet.
The redshirt senior quarterback passed for 474 yards and four touchdowns in Florida’s 44-28 win over Georgia, earning him SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors. His passing-yardage total was the second most in a game in Gators history behind only Tim Tebow’s 482 yards in the 2010 Sugar Bowl.
Trask also became the first player in SEC history to have four passing touchdowns in five straight games. And this time, he did it against a Georgia defense that led the SEC in total defense entering the game.
Trask wasn’t the only Florida player to receive a weekly honor following the big win. Junior kicker Evan McPherson was named the Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking three field goals, including ones from 50 and 51 yards. He also made all five of his extra-point attempts.
