SEC announces Week 7 Players of the Week

With another weekend of college football in the books, the SEC league office has officially named its Week 7 SEC Players of the Week:

Co-Offensive Player of the Week – D.J. Chark, WR/PR, LSU

  • Hauled in five receptions for 150 yards.
  • Each of Chark’s catches went for a first down with two coming on crucial third down plays.
  • Chark’s big play came on special teams with a 75-yard punt return touchdown in the fourth quarter of LSU’s comeback over Auburn.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Shea Patterson, QB, Ole Miss

  • Recorded 5 TDs in 57-35 win over Vanderbilt.
  • Completed 22 of 35 passes for 351 yards and 4 TDs.
  • Recorded his first career rushing touchdown.

Defensive Player of the Week – Devin White, LB, LSU

  • Recorded a career-high 15 tackles in the comeback win over Auburn. He has double-digit tackles in five straight games.
  • Added a sack, two TFL, and a QB hurry.
  • Helped the LSU defense hold Auburn scoreless with just 64 total yards after halftime.
  • Leads the SEC in tackles with 77.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Daniel LaCamera, K, Texas A&M

  • LaCamera was a perfect 5 for 5 on kick opportunities with four made field goals against Florida.
  • Hit the go-ahead field goal with 58 seconds remaining in the game. It was his first career game-winner.

Freshman of the Week – Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia

  • Completed 18 of 26 passes for 326 yards and 2 TDs in the Bulldogs 53-28 win over Missouri. The 326 yards set a new career high for Fromm.
  • Led a Georgia offense that racked up 696 yards of total offense against the Tigers.
  • Helped the Bulldogs go a perfect 6 for 6 on trips in the red zone Saturday and scored a rushing touchdown.

Offensive Lineman of the Week – Jonah Williams, OL, Alabama

  • Cleared the way for the Crimson Tide to rush for 308 yards against Arkansas.
  • Graded a team-high 92% in 56 snaps at left tackle.
  • Recorded four knockdown blocks without a sack or QB hurry allowed.
  • Helped Alabama’s rushing attack average 7.2 YPC.

Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week – D.J. Wonnum, DL, South Carolina

  • Recorded six tackles with two sacks in the Gamecocks close win over Tennessee.
  • Helped the South Carolina defense hold the Volunteers to 120 total yards of offense after the first quarter.

Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week – Marquis Haynes, DE, Ole Miss

  • Recorded career-highs in TFL (3.5) and sacks (3.0) while forcing two fumbles.
  • Recorded eight total tackles and is now the modern era leader for sacks and TFL at Ole Miss.
