Every SEC baseball team was in action Friday night, as all 14 programs had season openers.
The most surprising result came when No. 2 Arkansas lost 3-2 to unranked Illinois State Friday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium. The loss snapped a streak of 27 consecutive season openers without a loss. Prior to Friday night, Arkansas had not lost a season opener at home since 1981.
Along with Arkansas, Auburn and No. 4 Mississippi State also lost. The Bulldogs got blanked by No. 24 Long Beach State 3-0 and Auburn lost to 3-0 to Oklahoma.
