The SEC celebrated another NFL milestone after 2 days of the NFL Draft.
Thanks to Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Hendon Hooker and Will Levis, the SEC is the first conference to have 4 QBs drafted in the first 3 rounds in the Common Draft Era. Once Young and Richardson were selected in the first four picks, it took 2 more rounds Levis and Hooker to be taken.
Then the Titans traded up and took Levis with the 33rd overall pick, but the Kentucky QB had long left Kansas City after a difficult night Thursday waiting with his girlfriend and family. They went back to Connecticut for a family gathering Saturday and Levis had just walked in the door when he got a call from the Titans.
Levis was expected to go in the top 15, and even some draft analysts projected him in the top 5. A few days before the draft, oddsmakers even made Levis the favorite to be the second QB selected behind Young.
Hooker had his own questions from draft analysts and NFL scouts. He ultimately sat until the 3rd round before the Lions took him with the 68th overall pick. He’s coming off surgery for a torn ACL and he’s expected to get ready behind veteran Jared Goff.
Like Levis, Hooker was also projected to go higher in the draft. He’s 25 years old and returning from a knee injury, but he’s also considered the best deep-ball passer in the draft, put up huge numbers at Tennessee and threw just 5 interceptions with the Vols.
Young went first to Carolina, while Richardson was selected at No. 4 by Indianapolis.
One other story to watch as the draft wraps up is if Georgia QB Stetson Bennett will hear his name called, or will he land as a free agent.
