ESPN’s Brett McMurphy asked all college football head coaches to describe their team with one word, and he received some very interesting one word answers.

McMurphy found that the majority of the coaches used the word hungry, and two SEC coaches — Will Muschamp and Dan Mullen — used it. Mark Richt used the word ‘wow’, while Les Miles used the word ‘unknown’. I wonder if Miles used the word unknown as the actual description of his team, or if that was the first word that came to his mind?

Derek Mason’s word ‘audacious’ is very Vanderbilt-like.

Here’s the one-word answers, via ESPN:

  • Alabama’s Nick Saban: Untested
  • Arkansas’ Bret Bielema: Motivated
  • Auburn’s Gus Malzahn: Experienced
  • Florida’s Will Muschamp: Hungry
  • Georgia’s Mark Richt: Wow
  • Kentucky’s Mark Stoops: Improved
  • LSU’s Les Miles: Unknown
  • Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen: Hungry
  • Missouri’s Gary Pinkel: Confident
  • Ole Miss’ Hugh Freeze: Relentless
  • South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier: Decent
  • Tennessee’s Butch Jones: Committed
  • Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin: Eager
  • Vanderbilt’s Derek Mason: Audacious
