Something can be said for the programs that win the games they are supposed to win. But at the end of the day, college coaches are paid to beat the best of the best. And no conference pays their coaches better than the SEC.
Not surprisingly, Nick Saban has, by far, the best record versus ranked opponents. A little more surprising is the fact Les Miles and Hugh Freeze are the only other coaches with winning records against ranked teams. Freeze and Ole Miss went 5-1 versus top 25 teams in 2015.

- Steve Spurrier, South Carolina: 4-5 (South Carolina went 0-3 after Spurrier retired in 2015)

- Bret Bielema, Arkansas: 4-14
- Dan Mullen, Mississippi State: 3-12
- Jim McElwain, Florida (since 2015): 1-4
- Butch Jones, Tennessee: 3-13
- Mark Stoops, Kentucky: 1-8
- Derek Mason, Vanderbilt (since 2014): 0-7
