One of the biggest transfer portal moves this past offseason was former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck making the move down to South Beach to become the starting QB for the Miami Hurricanes.

The former Dawg entered the 2024 season with Georgia as the Heisman Trophy frontrunner and the odds-on favorite to become the first overall draft pick in this past spring’s NFL Draft.

Unfortunately for both Beck and the Bulldogs, however, things didn’t end up going the way the oddsmakers predicted, as the redshirt junior ended up looking like a shell of the guy he was in 2023, and ended the year on the sidelines with an injury as Georgia watched their national championship hopes wash away down in New Orleans.

Now, Beck will be looking to prove that he still has what it takes to be a difference maker at the next level with the Canes, but according to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, one anonymous SEC coordinator isn’t too high on Beck’s chances at a revival.

He’s a turnover machine,” the SEC coordinator said. “There might have been some drops, but there might have been some dropped interceptions, too. The guy just throws it to the other team. He makes some good throws, but as a quarterback, that’s tough to overcome. He was just fortunate how good they were on defense.

While a bit harsh, it’s hard to argue with the reasoning behind the argument, given the results Beck produced on the field in 2024. He threw 12 interceptions, which led both the SEC and FBS at the time of his injury in the SEC Championship game.

If he wants to show NFL scouts that he can be their next franchise QB, then cutting down on the number of picks he throws has to be priority No. 1.
