State representative calls out Texas for ‘lack of transparency’ regarding potential expansion to the SEC
Not everyone is happy about the Southeastern Conference expansion rumors.
If Texas and Oklahoma do make the decision to leave the Big 12, as has been reported, the league would likely be forced to fold or add several programs in an attempt to remain relevant.
While the expansion of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC has been widely reported, neither school has denied the speculation.
The SEC also has yet to decline comment on possible expansion.
The current uncertainty appears to have upset Texas state representative Jeff Leach, who issued the following statement on Thursday:
The lack of transparency by our flagship institution is wrong. Such a monumental economic and educational decision impacting the entire state must not be made in a bubble on the forty acres. Working on legislation requiring legislative approval for UT to bolt the BIG XII. #txlege
