One of the units of measurement of the SEC Football Fan Engagement Index is time commitment.
The Department of Sports Marketing at Samford defined time commitment “the amount of time a fan invests in watching, discussing and engaging with a team.”
It is important to note that the values above do not represent the amount of time in minutes or hours the collective fan base spends investing in their team. The chart above ranks the programs based on the results compiled from the SEC Football Fan Engagement Index survey.
Tradition-rich SEC programs such as Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee rank in the middle of the conference or lower in the amount of time its fan bases spend investing in the team.
