To no surprise, Alabama is one of the most consistent winners in the nation when it comes to betting favorites.

According to betting results from the previous decade calculated by Phil Steele, Alabama ranks as the No. 6 best bet in the nation during that time span — Penn Live recently tallied up the results from across the nation. The Crimson Tide have been winners .576 percent of the time with an overall record of 79-58-2.

That shouldn’t be much of a surprise as we’ve previously referenced Alabama’s dominance against the spread on the road over the last decade. In total, Alabama has a combined against-the-spread record on the road and in neutral site games of 43-26 in the last decade. The Tide have gone 24-16 as an away favorite and 17-10 in neutral site games.

While Alabama may be the safest bet in the SEC, Kentucky is on the other end of the spectrum. The Wildcats rank No. 114 against the spread over the previous decade with an overall winning percentage of .427 — going 51-69-3 overall.

Just another reason to stay away from Kentucky football if you were for some reason planned to bet big on Mark Stoops’ program heading into 2018.
