The SEC has fined LSU after the huge win over Ole Miss in Week 7.

After the game concluded, LSU fans stormed the field to celebrate. This is a common occurrence after big wins, but it’s technically not allowed. For a first offense, the SEC fines a team $100,000. For a second offense, teams are fined $250,000. For a third offense or more, teams are fined $500,000.

Due to this being LSU’s second offense, the team will be forced to pay a $250,000 fine. The conference released a statement on Sunday announcing the punishment.

The Southeastern Conference announced today that Louisiana State University will be fined for violation of the league’s access to competition area policy due to fans entering the field following its football game vs. the University of Mississippi on October 12.

LSU will incur a fine of $250,000 for a second offense under the league’s current access to competition area policy that was revised at the SEC Spring Meetings in 2023.

An interesting note is that, if the offense occurs during a conference game, the opposing team receives the fine money. So, the Rebels will at least benefit financially from the tough loss.

However, this is likely a fine that LSU is proud to pay. The Tigers improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in SEC play after taking down the previously No. 9 Rebels. The Tigers trailed after 3 quarters but were able to force the game into overtime.

In OT, Garrett Nussmeier found Kyren Lacy for a 25-yard TD to give the Tigers the win. The next test for the now No. 8 Tigers will be against Arkansas.
