SEC head coach reportedly ‘interested’ in Louisville job

With the regular season over for most FBS teams, the coaching carousel is spinning. One of the open Power 5 jobs is Louisville, which fired Bobby Petrino during the season.
An interesting name has popped up in a report about the Cardinals coaching job: Missouri head coach Barry Odom. The report claims that there is “mutual interest” between Odom and Louisville.
Odom, who played linebacker at Mizzou (1996-99) has the Tigers at 8-4 in 2018, winning four straight and in position to go to a good bowl game. He is 19-18 in his third season at MU.
The report could be the work of Odom’s agent seeking a raise from Missouri. Odom is one of only three SEC head coaches (along with Mississippi State’s Joe Moorhead and Vanderbilt’s Derek Mason) with a listed salary under $3 million ($2.97 million). Genuine interest from Louisville could get MU to give Odom a raise.
If Odom were to actually leave Missouri for Louisville, it’s a move that would likely draw comparisons to the time Gary Andersen left Wisconsin for the Oregon State job in 2014.
