Hugh Freeze has a new chip to play on the recruiting trail.

‘Come to Ole Miss, where a bunch of our former players now starring in the NFL — on average — earn more than any other college football program in the county.’

It’s true.

According to a recent research study from Sporting Intelligence, the Rebels headline the list of highest average annual earning status by school for NFL players. Currently, 18 former Ole Miss standouts play in the NFL and earn an average of $4 million per season, headlined by such All-Pros like Eli Manning ($16.2 million in 2015) and Greg Hardy.

In next year’s draft, Ole Miss could have as many as four first-round picks, headlined by the No. 1 player on everyone’s board, tackle Laremy Tunsil.

The SEC’s current highest-paid alum is Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler (who starred at Vanderbilt) who is set to make $18.1 million next season. Former Georgia signal caller and Detroit Lions QB Matt Stafford is second at $17.6.
